so today was a great day of discoveries. first, i had breakfast with my supervisor’s wife, laura, who is quickly becoming one of my all time favorite people. we met at a place called cafe dijo. now if you know me at all you will know of my love for all quaint, quirky, whimsical, small-town, hole-in-the-wall coffee shops on the planet. its like an african frothy monkey. its the greatest and has free wireless. i’m hoping to go there pretty frequently and get to know the people who work there. love it.

then laura told me about this place called world foods that she has always seen and never gone to, so being curious i decided to check it out. i get to this place and walk up to the door and find that it is gated and i have to be buzzed in. it opens and i walk in to find a single room with a few office desks and a kitchen. well that’s odd. then this woman comes up to me and says, “so, do you want to buy?” and i just kinda stood there for a minute because for some reason i felt like i was being invited to do something illegal or something i would be deported for. so i say “yeah..uh..i saw your sign out front and thought you sold food. do you?” she just nods and says, “follow me.” so of course i did and she takes me down this hallway and tells me to go through the door at the end. turns out, world foods is a single room warehouse with seafood, random canned goods and jam. bonus – i did find canned black eyed peas, which are no where else in gabs, so way to go, world foods!

plus on the way home i discovered this flower vine growing and snipped these. aren’t they beautiful? so cheery.
