so…its been a while

September 12, 2009

hey guys. been a while since the last post! theres been a lot happening, so here are some updates:

– we’ve been going out to gakuto the past few weeks on sunday mornings. i had an opportunity to meet with three of the girls there for bible study. these girls are so eager to learn and study the Word…but because they are youth, school has started back this month and so we’re no longer able to meet during the week. continue to really pray for these who are gathering together every sunday. they have a great need for leadership and direction…

– last weekend traci and i went on a little roadtrip to blyde river canyon…third largest canyon in the world – who knew?? it was ammmaaazzziing. i love mountains the most and it was the best to be in the wilderness, to see pine cones, to be around trees, to see green, and smell pine, and see water and go on hikes. loved it.

– a couple weeks ago traci and i went to the botswana fair. there were rides and everything, and definitely not what i’d say were up to US safety guidelines, but it was awesome! then the next morning we went to a farmers market…and bought fair trade coffee, homemade breads, and fresh squeezed juice.

– i drove 170 km/hr at night through the bush trying to make it back to botswana before the south africa border closed. fastest i’ve ever driven. ever.

– i’ve been meeting with a group of girls for bible study the past couple weeks…i’m so grateful for these new relationships – they are great. wame, thabang, kuda, and uyapo…all university students. they are all eager to study the Word together and i’m so excited to see what happens there…

– just found out yesterday that we are moving out of our house into a new apartment in the next couple of weeks. exciting and also kinda crazy, especially for traci, who is sadly leaving botswana, and me, in a little over a month. but we’ve had a good laugh about it and today we started packing up!

– i walked out of the student center last week and heard bagpipes. i almost peed my pants. bagpipes?!? in botswana?! how could this be??? so traci and i cross the street and follow the sound only to find a group of four grown men in kilts playing bagpipes. they live in botswana and play at this random golf club. i’m their new biggest fan.

a picture from our trip…
