just when you thought i was never coming back…

January 8, 2010

yesterday internet was installed in my house. it was a great day of rejoicing.

SO as my kick off post from a 3 month sabbatical i give you these nuggets of christmas goodness!

i love christmas. i love everything about christmas festivities. the christmas cheer, the cold weather, the Elf watching, the decorating, the baking, the Starbucks holiday drinks, charlie brown, wassail, george bailey loving his family and getting all that money back, clarence getting his wings, even those old timey claymation christmas videos – remember those? with rudolph and those misfit toys?

this year, with a botswana christmas, there were some definite changes – with 90-100 degree temperatures, no Starbucks and neighbors that look at you really funny for putting some random round evergreen leafy thing on your door (who does that?!). BUT even though it was different, it was still great. a little less of the crazy consumer chaos and a reminder that those things don’t make christmas. we celebrate christmas because God humbled Himself and chose to dwell with man with a purpose to one day restore us to Himself.

so even though christmas is over and everything, here are some shots from my christmasy (new!) apartment – more of the apartment are to come.

doilies hanging from my ceiling – winter wonderland!

took these evergreen twigs from a bush at the botswana airport. yeah i did.

some favors i made for a christmas party i hosted with the women on our team.

glad to be back!

Hi there – I don’t know how, but I stumbled upon your post and it just made me smile. I know it’s belated, but happy holidays! I see that you are a fan of It’s A Wonderful Life, so I wanted to share with you a song I wrote called George Bailey. You can watch the youtube video at the link below. It’s never too late for a little holiday spirit, right?

All the best for a great new year,
    Carolyn Sills
