books & birthdays

October 15, 2010

happy birthday, lisa!

i am so thankful for you. for your kind and generous heart, your love for the Father, your inclination to pray at all times, your love for your family, your cornbread … thank you for being a friend, encourager, mentor, and running partner! i pray your year will be full of good things.

to celebrate i introduce to you all lisa’s first ever children’s book. In the Clouds, In the Sky.

this year for christmas, laura had the idea of doing {mostly} handmade. we are trying to make as many gifts as possible by hand for each other. simplifying and being cost efficient. so for the pettigrew wees, i commissioned lisa to author a children’s story following the pettigrew children – lili, elliot and wesley – as the main characters.

i love her story. it begins with all three children laying on a blanket looking up at the clouds. suddenly they notice the clouds are no longer clouds at all but instead look more like their own familiar stuffed animals and favorite storybook characters. it follows the children as they spend the day in their own imagination, playing in the clouds, in the sky. perfect.

now that i have the story i’ll be illustrating it over the next few weeks, then publishing it through blurb. i totally recommend that site. can’t wait to see the finished product and lisa’s very first book.

happy birthday, lisa – hope you are very celebrated today, as you should be!
