when i was in zambia we met an elderly woman who was lame since the age of 7 – i wrote about her in my newsletter. sweet and wonderful yelesiya. to keep her hands busy she makes these awesome hangy flowery cloth things. i love them and think anthropologie should sell her crafts. aren’t they great?

yesterday i read this prayer in valley of vision and was encouraged in the face of language learning. it is definitely going to be a gift from God for my mouth to speak setswana and for my mind to keep focus and motivation! seriously…

thou Eternal God,

thine is surpassing greatness, unspeakable goodness, super-abundant grace;
I can as soon count the sands of ocean’s ‘lip’ as number thy favors towards me;
I know but a part, but that part exceeds all praise.

I thank thee for personal mercies,
a measure of health, preservation of body,
comforts of house and home, sufficiency of food and clothing,
continuance of mental powers,
my family, their mutual help and support, the delights of domestic harmony and peace, the seats now filled that might have been vacant,
my country, church, Bible, faith.

    :) I love this prayer. and your thoughts! These flower things would be fun to put in baby’s rooms too because of the primary colors!
